Visiting the United States Mint at Denver, Colorado

Welcome to the United States Mint Tour Reservation System.  Before you begin making your tour reservation, please note the following:

Reservations

Reservations are required for all tours of the United States Mint at Denver.  Reservations can be scheduled through this website.

All United States Mint tours are free of charge. Guided tours start on the hour and are available from 8:00 am to 11:00 am and 1:00 pm to 4:00pm Monday through Thursday (excluding federal holidays).  We encourage you to make your reservation as early as possible since a limited number of tours are available.  General tour information is available at (303) 405-4761.

Please be aware that tours may be canceled without prior notice.

Tours for Individuals and Families (15 or fewer)

Tour reservations for individuals or small groups of up to 15 people can be scheduled through our web-based tour reservation system.  Reservations can be scheduled up to three months in advance.

Large Group Tours (16 or more)

PLEASE READ: There are no additional spaces for large groups.  Available spaces for large groups are part of the same online schedule/spaces available to individuals and small groups.

Tours are not recommended for children under 7 years of age.

We welcome large group tours for students, youth groups, seniors, military, veterans and other organizations.  Large group tours may be arranged by calling the Office of Public Affairs at the United States Mint, Denver, (303)405-4759.  Group tours can be scheduled up to three months in advance.  Group tours must be scheduled at least two weeks before the tour date requested.

Free Education and Outreach Programs

The United States Mint in Denver offers a free speakers bureau to local schools and groups in the community. The programs can cover a wide range of topics, including the History of Money, History of the Denver Mint, the coin production process, coin collection programs, etc. These programs can also be tailored to meet your group's specific interest. Speakers are available Monday thru Thursday 9am-3pm; other times may be arranged depending on the location. Instructions for Visiting the Denver Mint

You must be at the tour entrance no later than 20 minutes before your tour time.  Late arrivals will not be admitted.

Security Requirements

The United States Mint is a secured facility.  All visitors, including children, are subject to a security screening to include metal detection and X-ray examination of hand-carried items. All items, including persons are subject to search by the United States Mint Police. The United States Mint reserves the right to deny access to anyone at any time; in addition, members of the general public wishing to tour the facility may be subject to search by the United States Mint Police.

Prohibited items include, but are not limited to:

  • Handbags, purses, fanny packs, tote bags, backpacks, packages, etc.
  • Strollers
  • Food, drinks, tobacco products, lighters and matches.
  • Weapons, including pocket knives and personal protective devices such as pepper spray.

The United States Mint at Denver does NOT provide storage for any items.

Photography inside the building is prohibited.

Permitted items

  • You may bring a 'palm' sized wallet/change purse (about the size of a man's folded wallet) that can fit in your pocket to hold i.d., credit cards, money, etc.
  • Cameras, camera cell phones, smartphones, I-Pods, I-Pads. However, their use is prohibited while inside the Mint facility. Any use of these items while inside the Mint will cause the user to be immediately escorted from the facility.
  • Bags and/or packs of a reasonable size that are used to carry only medical items necessary for the safety and well-being of the visitor. All necessary medications must be identified, and will remain in the custody of an adult chaperone for the entire tour.
  • Hand lotions or sanitizers of 3 ounces or less.
  • Umbrellas

Special Needs

Service and/or Signal Dogs are allowed.

The United States Mint at Denver is wheelchair accessible.

Sign language interpreters are available by special arrangement.  Please call (303) 405-4759 for more information.

Gift Shop

Located directly adjacent to the visitor's entrance, the gift shop has United States Mint coin sets, commemorative coins, numismatic collectables, books, games, and United States Mint souvenirs.  You are welcome to visit the gift shop after your tour.

Parking and Directions

The United States Mint at Denver does not provide parking.  Public lots and meters are available in the area.

The United States Mint at Denver is at 320 West Colfax Avenue.  Going either north or south on I-25, take the Colfax Avenue exit and go east on West Colfax, away from the mountains, you should see the gold dome of the State Capitol to the east.  The United States Mint is 1.5 miles east on the right hand side of the street between Delaware and Cherokee Streets.  Due to ongoing construction in the area, allow extra time to find parking.
