FLETC and ATF Academy Officials Open New Building

Glynco, GA Jun 08, 2007

The Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) and the ATF National Academy held a ribbon cutting ceremony for Building 681, the new home to the ATF National Academy and several FLETC divisions, today at the FLETC-Glynco site.

The keynote speaker was Michael J. Sullivan, Acting Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), who traveled from ATF headquarters in Washington, D.C. to help officially open the new facility.

“It is a privilege for ATF to share in our continuing partnership with FLETC. Since its opening, some of the greatest law enforcement professionals have been trained at this facility, and this facility has provided a solid foundation in the career of not only ATF, but federal investigators nationwide,” said Director Sullivan.

This $10 million, two-story building features a state-of-the-art television studio, more than 200 administrative offices and workstations, several conference rooms, and records and archival storage areas.

The new building was once a manufacturing plant that fabricated industrial equipment.  The project team used an innovative process to convert the existing space into 105,000-square foot office building, which was completed this spring.

“Our on-site partner agency representatives are the reason FLETC exists” said Director Patrick.  “I enjoy the relationship we have with each of you and this building is just one more example of the partnership that truly exists here.”
