The Policy Development Division (PDD) provides leadership in the identification of policy needs, and the subsequent development of policy solutions to address the intent and application of verification and enforcement policy in in-plant activities.

IKE is a tool available to all Field Operations employees. Through the use of fictional scenarios, IKE allows employees to review FSIS requirements, and hopefully, to correlate with his or her work-group and supervisor regarding the application of those requirements.     Guidance for meat, poultry, egg products, and retail and foodservice establishments in hurricane-affected areas that identifies food safety factors establishments should consider as they resume operations.

Like IKE, the HIKE uses fictional scenarios to help employees improve their knowledge and understanding of humane handling and slaughter laws, regulations, directives and notices.

PolicyPoints are PowerPoint presentations prepared for each new FSIS issuance (e.g., notices and directives) to provide a uniform delivery system for supervisors, inspection personnel and industry to minimize the need for clarification after release of new issuances.  Each presentation will capture the highlights and significant changes in each new issuance.
