The Animal Disposition Reporting System (ADRS) contains slaughter
totals and disposition summaries for federally inspected livestock
and poultry slaughter establishments. Each animal carcass is
inspected for diseases and other conditions, which if present, may
result in the animal being condemned as unfit for human consumption.
If a carcass is condemned, the reason for condemnation, also referred to
as the disposition, is recorded in the ADRS database.
Livestock and poultry are divided into the following major subgroups for reporting purposes:
- Livestock: Cattle, calves, swine, sheep, goats, equine, and other
- Poultry: Chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese, capons, rabbits¹, and other
FSIS does not currently have ADRS data available online. For specific figures, we recommend searching the
Agricultural Statistics Data Base
maintained by USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS). Or,
consult the Market News data
from the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS).
