There are many challenging job opportunities
within FSIS. Veterinarians serve in positions in field operations,
technical services, international operations, and as scientific and
policy advisors in the Agency. These positions vary in grade and salary
based on responsibility, educational level, and experience. As you
progress in FSIS, opportunities exist for traditional positions designated
exclusively for veterinarians but also for non-traditional positions.

There are many other career opportunities in FSIS; however those listed
on this Web site will give you a glimpse of the positions that exist
for veterinarians. Where to Start?
There are two personnel systems to consider. One is the General
Service and the other is the Public Health Service Commissioned
Corps as a Veterinary Officer. You must be a U. S. citizen to
work in the Federal Government. If you are currently employed by FSIS,
you may consider the Commissioned Corps. Please refer to the Office
of Personnel Management's Web site for details on all qualifications.
