Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services (CMCS) 

CMCS is organized into five groups that are responsible for the various components of the Center. See organizations below:

Business Operations Staff (BOS) oversees the business and administrative processes for all of the groups within the Center for Medicaid, CHIP and Survey and Certification.

Children and Adults Health Programs Group (CAHPG) houses the children and adult-focused Medicaid work, including eligibility, enrollment and outreach activities, section 1115 Demonstrations, and federal leadership of the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). The group also works on improving the quality of health care provided through Medicaid and CHIP.

Disabled and Elderly Health Programs Group (DEHPG) houses Medicaid coverage and care coordination for the elderly and individuals with disabilities. This includes initiatives to promote community-based care options and to enhance the availability of long-term services and supports. The group manages the Medicaid prescription drug benefit and manufacturer rebates, and oversees benefits issues across the Medicaid program.

Data & Systems Group (DSG) houses the data and systems work. DSG is responsible for overseeing the collection of information from the States as is necessary for program integrity, program oversight, and administration of the Medicaid and CHIP programs. DSG is supporting states as they update and develop improved eligibility systems in preparation for the 2014 expansion of Medicaid coverage.

Financial Management Group (FMG) houses Medicaid and CHIP financing issues, including program oversight and operations, review and approval of states’ reimbursement rates, section 1115 waiver negotiations, and work with states on new financing initiatives such as payment reform and efforts to improve access to care while lowering costs.
