EcoCAR

EcoCAR: The NeXt Challenge (EcoCAR) is a three-year collegiate advanced vehicle technology engineering competition. EcoCAR was established by the United States Department of Energy and General Motors, LLC, and is being managed by Argonne National Laboratory. EcoCAR challenges 16 universities across North America to reduce the environmental impact of vehicles by minimizing vehicle fuel consumption and reducing emissions while retaining vehicle performance, safety and consumer appeal. EcoCAR was officially launched on May 21, 2008 and will conclude in June 2011 in Washington, D.C. The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is proud to be a major sponsor of EcoCAR. As part of this sponsorship, EPA's Office of Transportation and Air Quality (OTAQ) is providing technical expertise, advice and mentoring in the areas of greenhouse gas, fuel consumption and tailpipe emissions.
