Promoting Efficiency and Effectiveness in Information Technology Practices

The Information Technology MAC Collaborative will help States to address the aggressive timeframes associated with: 1) developing, implementing, and operating health benefit exchanges and 2) establishing coverage expansions and improvements under Medicaid and CHIP programs.  In addition, the health insurance exchanges established by States will require interoperability to Medicaid and CHIP systems to support these programs. Given these requirements, States will need to leverage as much learning as possible from other States’ efforts.  

This learning collaborative will bring states together with partners from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to identify ways to design and efficiently develop information technology infrastructure that supports high-performing Medicaid programs. This collaborative will focus on reducing the total cost of ownership, project risk, and cycle time for new products and capabilities while improving business results.

The Information Technology MAC Collaborative began in February 2012 and will run through August 2012 or later.
