PMCID/PMID/NIHMSID Converter

Given a set of PubMed IDs (PMIDs) you can use this converter to obtain the corresponding PMCIDs and/or NIHMS IDs if they exist. A PMCID will be available if the article is in PubMed Central (PMC). An NIHMS ID will be available if the manuscript has been deposited via the NIH Manuscript Submission (NIHMS) system. The tool is able to process maximum 2000 IDs in a single retrieval. If you have a larger number of IDs, split your list into smaller subsets for consecutive retrievals.

Notes

  • If you enter IDs directly, you may enter one per line, or multiple IDs per line, separated by a commas, spaces, semicolons (“;”), or vertical bars (“|”).
  • To Get IDs from a Clipboard, you must first search PubMed or PMC and add articles to the respective clipboard. Use this converter to translate one type of ID to the other.
  • Check the “Write result to file” box before clicking the “Convert” button, if you want to save the converter results as a CSV (comma separated values) text file.
  • The result set is sequentially sorted by the order of the input ID.
