Senate Appropriations Subcommittee Holds Hearing on Conflict of Interest

On January 22, 2004, the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, HHS, Education (Senator Arlen Specter [R-PA], Chairman) held a hearing on “Avoiding Conflicts of Interest at NIH.” Dr. Elias Zerhouni, Director of NIH; Dr. Ruth Kirschstein, Senior Advisor to the Director; Dr. Stephen Katz, Director of the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases; and Dr. John Gallin, Director of the Warren G. Magnuson Clinical Center, testified.
