New Employee Orientation — Tuesday, October 9
The Orientation for all new NIH Federal employees will be held in the Building 31 (6th Floor, C wing, Conference Room 6) from 8:00 a.m. - Noon. The "Fall In Love with NIH Orientation," for new administrative Federal employees ONLY will be held in Building 31, 6th Floor, C wing, Conference Room 6 from 1:00 p.m.- 2:30 p.m. The "Clinical Center Orientation" for new Clinical Center (CC) employees ONLY is held in the Clinical Center (Bldg 10, 2C116) from 1:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

CFC Kick-off Breakfast on Wednesday, October 10
Eurest Dining Services supports the NIH Combined Federal Campaign (CFC)! Between 7:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., Eurest will donate 10 percent of total sales to NIH Charities. The more you order, the more Eurest donates! So come fill up your plates, get your coffee mugs ready and support CFC! Participating Eurest cafeterias and dining services include: Buildings 10 (B1, ACRF, and Au Bon Bain in the CRC), 31, 35, 40 (Cyber Café) and 45. NIH Research Festival Lunch Registration — Wednesday, October 10
This year's Research Festival lunch will be held in a tent near the Natcher Conference Center cafeteria, Building 45. The local food vendors will be The Bean Bag, Hard Times, Hollywood East Cafe, Ledo Pizza, Rocklands Barbeque, and Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream. Music will be provided by NIHJAZZ. Tickets are $5. Reserve your spot — be sure to enter your e-mail address properly, in order to receive your confirmation, which you must bring on the day of the event along with $5 cash and an ID to receive your meal ticket. You cannot enter the tent without a ticket. There will be five seatings between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. There are a limited number of tickets, and you may reserve only one spot.

NIH Philharmonia Orchestra Concert — Saturday, October 20
The NIH Philharmonia Orchestra will present its first concert of the season att 7:30 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church (917 Montrose Rd., Rockville, MD). The concert "Triple Alliance" features evocative music from Italy, Austria and Germany, including Rossini's William Tell Overture, Haydn's Symphony No. 94, Brahms' Academic Festival Overture and Respighi's Pines of Rome. Tickets are free. Early arrival is encouraged to ensure good seating and parking.

2012 NIH Behavioral & Social Sciences Research Retreat — Monday, October 22 — Register Now

Farmers Market and Upper Crust Bakery at NIH through October
The farmer’s market will be held from 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. on the Bldg. 31A patio. Licking Creek Bend Farm from Needmore, PA, and Upper Crust Bakery from Colesville, MD will have fresh fruits and vegetables, and freshly-baked bread and other baked goods.

Foil the Flu — Influenza Vaccination Program
The 2012-2013 schedule is now available on the Foil the Flu Web site. The location of this year's on-campus vaccination clinic is the Hatfield Clinical Research Center, Building 10, 7th Floor Atrium, East Side. (In the Hatfield CRC, take the central elevators adjacent to Admissions/Patient Travel to the 7th floor.) All Federal employees and contractors with a valid NIH identification badge will be provided the seasonal flu vaccine free of charge, while supplies last.
