epidemiological patterns have offered potential clues for
the possible biological pathways through which ankylosing
spondylitis (AS) begins. But noted rheumatologist Dr. Alfonse
T. Masi of the University of Illinois still had questions. Three
years ago, Dr. Masi proposed new biomechanical concepts to
answer those questions about the full range of risk factors
and other biological influences that start the AS disease
