Building permits in August 2012 were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 803,000, down 1.0 percent from the revised July rate, but up 24.5 percent from August 2011. Housing starts in August 2012 were at a seasonally adjusted rate of 750,000, up 2.3 percent from July’s revised estimate and up 29.1 percent from August 2011.

Building permits in July 2012 were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 812,000, up 6.8 percent from the revised June rate, and up 29.5 percent from July 2011. Housing starts in July 2012 were at a seasonally adjusted rate of 746,000, down 1.1 percent from June’s revised estimate, but up 21.5 percent from July 2011.

Building permits in June 2012 were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 755,000, down 3.7 percent from the revised May rate but up 19.3 percent from June 2011. Housing starts in June 2012 were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 760,000, up 6.9 percent from May’s revised estimate, and up 23.6 percent from June 2011.

Building permits in May 2012 were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 780,000, up 7.9 percent from the revised April rate and up 25.0 percent from May 2011. Housing starts in May 2012 were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 708,000, down 4.8 percent from April’s revised estimate, but up 28.5 percent from May 2011.

Building permits in April 2012 were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 715,000, down 7.0 percent from the revised March rate but up 23.7 percent from April 2011. Housing starts in April 2012 were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 717,000, up 2.6 percent from March’s revised estimate and up 29.9 percent from April 2011.
