ITIS Data Status Summary Table
The Data Status Summary Table summarizes current ITIS data status in
terms of completed or in progress species lists for taxonomic groups,
for specific geographic areas.
- "Completed" - Full list of species for geographic area has
been added to ITIS database.
- "In Progress" - Species list for ITIS under development,
but not added to database; some subgroups may be incorporated into database.
- The ITIS database usually contains additional names of species from
outside of the geographic area listed for the group. Geographic coverage
is, therefore, not to be interpreted as defining limits on ITIS data.
- Please note that the ITIS database contains names unreviewed by ITIS.
These have an associated credibility rating field indicating no review,
whereas names ITIS has reviewed are normally given a credibility rating
of "TWG standards met." The TWG, or Taxonomic Work Group,
defines data quality standards for ITIS.
