Women's Leadership Development

The IACP Center for Police Leadership and Training is currently developing a leadership program targeted at first level supervisory women officers. In response to requests in the field, an advisory group of experienced police executives was convened in June of 2012 to begin building the framework and curriculum. The program is slated to be a 40 hour block session, with the potential to include mentoring and to be extended eventually to 80 hours. While it would initially be intended for a domestic audience, the long term plan is to expand internationally. We will be highlighting this program at the 2012 International Association of Women Police (IAWP) Conference in Newfoundland, Canada, as well as at the 119th Annual IACP San Diego Conference this September.
