Description

The Florida Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services was reorganized during the Florida legislative 1996 session. The result was two separate Departments: the Florida Department of Health and the Department of Children and family services. The mission of the Department of Health is to promote and protect the health and safety of all Floridians. The department operates 67 County Health Departments and 22 regional Children medical Services offices. The client services of the Department include: children's medical services, including diagnostic and treatment for under or uninsured children with special health care needs; public health services -- maternal and child health, family health, migrant health, rural health, emergency medicine, disease control, and environmental health programs; and medical quality assurance of health care practitioners and the respective licensing boards.
