The Oklahoma Department of Health provides consultation, information, and diagnostic and treatment services through programs in local health departments and through its central office. The Health Education and Information Service maintains a film library and maintains and distributes a comprehensive library of pamphlets, booklets, and brochures. This service also prepares public service announcements and news releases on Department services and health problems and implements campaigns against health problems. The Information and Referral line answers questions relating to health and provides referrals to the proper agencies and resources; it also administers the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System. Other programs include Maternal and Child Health Service; Dental Service; Occupational health, domiciliary facilities inspections, chronic disease, and emergency medical care.
The Department publishes a variety of pamphlets and booklets promoting health care and discussing available services. Serial publications: Oklahoma Health Bulletin, quarterly--information on the central health department activities; Perspectives--child guidance services.
