Why Work for EL?    NIST's Engineering Laboratory (EL) is one of the Nation's primary federal laboratories serving the construction and building industries.

EL's strategic priorities include advanced energy technologies, information and automation technologies to improve construction productivity, sustainable infrastructure materials, advanced manufacturing, systems integration and engineering, intelligent systems and control, robotics and automation, innovative fire protection, and disaster-resilient structures and communities, which includes work on hurricanes, earthquakes, and fires.

EL has specific statutory responsibilities for fire prevention and control, earthquake hazards reduction, windstorm impact reduction, and building and fire safety investigations.

EL provides exciting opportunities in areas of national impact, access to excellent research facilities and work environment, exposure to top notch peers and mentors, and competitive benefits.

EL is actively recruiting at all levels in many key areas (e.g., Simulation & Analysis of Building Mechanical Equipment and Controls, Photovoltaic Module/System Measurement Science, Information Systems Integration, Characterization of Indoor Contaminant Exposure).
