Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) Section 8(e) requires U.S. chemical manufacturers, importers, processors, and distributors to notify EPA immediately after obtaining information on any of their chemical substances or mixtures that reasonably supports the conclusion that such substance or mixture presents a substantial risk of injury to health or the environment. 8(e) notices should be submitted within 30 calendar days after obtaining information that a substance or mixture presents a substantial risk
In addition, “For Your Information” (FYI) submissions are submissions from a classification system that was established by EPA to distinguish voluntary submissions from “substantial risk” notices submitted formally to EPA under TSCA Section 8(e), discussed above. The FYI classification was created by EPA to capture submissions by persons or organizations not subject to the reporting requirements, but who wished to inform EPA of a potential risk.
