The NEA Opera Honors celebrate visionaries and luminaries who, by making extraordinary contributions to opera in the United States, have become cultural treasures. |

As part of its efforts to honor and preserve our
nation's diverse cultural heritage, the NEA annually awards one-time-only National Heritage Fellowships
for master folk and traditional artists. These fellowships are intended
to recognize the recipients' artistic excellence and support their
continuing contributions to our nation's traditional arts heritage.

The NEA Jazz Masters Fellowship is the highest honor that our nation bestows on jazz artists. Each year since 1982, the program has elevated to its ranks a select number of living legends who have made exceptional contributions to the advancement of jazz. |

The National Medal of Arts is awarded by the President of the United States to individuals or groups who, in his judgment, "...are deserving of special recognition by reason of their outstanding contributions to the excellence, growth, support and availability of the arts in the United States." |
