FDA approves crystal-dissolving eye drops

NIH researchers study microbial shift between healthy children and adults

Genome Medicine magazine Julie Segre, Ph.D., NHGRI Genetics and Molecular Biology Branch senior investigator, and colleagues at the National Cancer Institute report in the Oct. 10, 2012 advance online issue of Genome Medicine that bacterial communities in chidren's nasal passages differ strikingly from those of adults. The authors suggest that these shifts in the skin microbiome may be relevant to prevention, diagnosis and treatment strategies of disorders like atopic dermatitis.
