2012 Black History Celebration (February 16, 2012)

Donna Carter, Human Resources Specialist, ASCR sang a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem during the United States Department of Agriculture Black History Month celebration 'Black Women in American Culture and History'. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack addressed the audience via a video at the United States Department of Agriculture Black History Month celebration 'Black Women in American Culture and History'. Aja Shakira Ali Muhammed a nine year old fourth grader at Hyde-Addison Elementary School in Georgetown, Washington, D.C. gave a striking rendition of the the narrative Sojourner Truth delivered at the 1851 Ohio Women Rights Convention, 'Ain’t I A Woman' to a standing room only crowd. USDA 63rd Secretary's Annual Honor Awards Ceremony (September 14, 2011)

Deputy Assistant Secretary for Administration Oscar Gonzales led the Pledge of Allegiance for the USDA 63rd Secretary's Annual Honor Awards ceremony held in the Jefferson Auditorium in Washington, D.C. USDA Labor Management Forum, Office of Human Resources Management, Washington, DC. Debra Arnold (Rural Development) and William P. Milton., Group Leaders recognized for outstanding service In a Nov 2, 2010 ceremony, USDA employees gathered 432,384 pounds of food at Department of Agriculture collection sites across the country. This averages to four pounds per USDA employee nationwide. Approximately one pound of food - equals one meal. The employees took the task to the fifth power, living up to their expanded name: Feds, Farmers and Friends Feed Families. SDA raised nearly 100 times more food than last year's food drive.
