Fire Planning
The BLM has updated land use and fire management plans to address wildland fire policy. This includes recognizing and integrating fire as a natural ecological process. Land managers are working with local communities and agency partners to prepare landscape-scale plans across agency boundaries.

BLM is also an interagency partner in the development of common interagency process for strategic, landscape scale fire management planning and budgeting. This new tool is called Fire Planning Analysis (FPA).   FPA will: strategically model effectiveness and efficiency of the fire management program at various budget levels; use land and fire management plan objectives to guide development of effectiveness measures; and the model will suggest changes and inform decisions about programs and budgets. For more information, please see www.fpa.nifc.gov .
