Data from the census serve as the foundation of American democracy, ensuring that each state has equal representation in congress. The data are also the primary source of statistics used to distribute more than $400 billion annually in federal funds to state, local and tribal areas for government programs. Businesses use census data to help make decisions about where to locate new stores and factories. City planners use the data to determine the right locations to build things such as schools, roads and other public facilities. Real estate agents and potential residents use data to learn about new neighborhoods as well as track trends over time that help predict future needs. Census data affect everyone, and everyone played a part in making sure that we had a complete and accurate count in the 2010 Census. Thank you for your participation!
