Bullying can have serious short- and long-term effects on children’s mental and physical health. Research can help schools identify bullying prevention programs and policies that work.
A study of anti-bullying programs in several countries identified a number of factors that distinguished the most successful programs, ranging from improved playground supervision to punitive disciplinary methods. Parent training and meetings also played a role in the more successful programs.
