Whipple procedure  listen  (HWIH-pul proh-SEE-jer)

  A type of surgery used to treat pancreatic cancer. The head of the pancreas, the duodenum, a portion of the stomach, and other nearby tissues are removed. Also called pancreatoduodenectomy.
