HHS actions to relevant Presidential Executive Orders.

Reestablishment Pursuant to Executive Order 13544
The Advisory Group on Prevention, Health Promotion, and Integrative and Public Health, as set forth in section 4 of Executive Order 13544 of June 10, 2010, and extended by section 2 of Executive Order 13591 of November 23, 2011, is hereby reestablished and shall terminate 2 years from the date of this order unless extended by the President.

Digital Government: Building a 21st Century Platform to Better Serve the American People
Issued by the White House, the Digital Government Strategy is a comprehensive roadmap aimed at building a 21st Century Digital Government that delivers better digital services to the American people. The Strategy has been designed to:

  • Enable the American people and an increasingly mobile workforce to access high-quality digital government information and services anywhere, anytime, on any device.
  • Ensure that as the government adjusts to this new digital world, we seize the opportunity to procure and manage devices, applications, and data in smart, secure and affordable ways.
  • Unlock the power of government data to spur innovation across our Nation and improve the quality of services for the American people.

Reducing Prescription Drug Shortages (Executive Order 13588)
Signed on October 31, 2011, Executive Order 13588, "Reducing Prescription Drug Shortages," directs the FDA to take steps that will help to prevent and reduce current and future disruptions in the supply of lifesaving medicines.

Streamlining Service Delivery and Improving Customer Service (Executive Order 13571)
The President signed Executive Order 13571, "Streamlining Service Delivery and Improving Customer Service," April 27, 2011, which requires federal agencies to take specific steps to strengthen customer service, including how they deliver services and information on federal ".gov" websites. Improving Regulation and Regulatory Review (Executive Order 13563)
HHS is committed to identifying and reviewing existing regulations in order to eliminate those that are obsolete, unnecessary, burdensome, or counterproductive or to modify others to increase their effectiveness, efficiency, and flexibility.

Federal Actions To Address Environmental Justice In Minority Populations And Low-Income Populations (Executive Order 12898)
"Federal Actions To Address Environmental Justice In Minority Populations And Low-Income Populations" (Executive Order 12898) [pdf] directs each Federal agency to make achieving environmental justice part of its mission by identifying and addressing, as appropriate, disproportionately high and adverse human health or environmental effects of its programs, policies, and activities on minority populations and low-income populations in the United States and its territories and possessions, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and the Commonwealth of the Marian islands.

The Federal Interagency Working Group on Environmental Justice (EJ IWG) was established in 1994 under Executive Order (EO) 12898. The role of the EJ IWG is to guide, support and enhance federal environmental justice and community-based activities. The EJ IWG is comprised of 17 federal agencies and several White House offices.
