Assistant Secretary to Provide Keynote Remarks at CSAVR Conference; Serve as Panelist at 2012 Disability Policy Seminar

U.S. Assistant Secretary for Special Education and Rehabilitative Services Alexa Posny will provide remarks as part of the Council of State Administrators of Vocational Rehabilitation (CSAVR) Spring Conference. Posny’s remarks will be in the Senate Dirksen Building at 8 a.m. ET on Tuesday, April 24. She will speak on the importance of the work that state vocational rehabilitation agencies do to help ensure employment for individuals with disabilities.

The CSAVR is composed of the chief administrators of the public rehabilitation agencies serving individuals with physical and mental disabilities in the States, District of Columbia, and the territories. The Council’s members supervise the rehabilitation of some 1.2 million persons with disabilities.

At 9 a.m., Posny will serve as a panelist at the 2012 Disability Policy Seminar at the Grand Hyatt in Washington, D.C. The panel is titled “Education and Employment” and Posny will discuss current issues in the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services, with regard to the education and employment of individuals with disabilities. The Disability Policy Seminar provides more than 600 advocates and professionals from across the nation with overviews from top policy experts about issues vital to the disability community.
