Surveillance Guidelines

The technical guidelines in this document from the National Birth Defects Prevention Network consist of a series of chapters covering the fundamental aspects of developing, planning, implementing, and conducting surveillance for birth defects and using the resulting data. They provide a way of improving the quality of birth defects surveillance data, which in turn enhances their use.

Statistical Analysis Battery for Epidemiological Research (SABER)

SABER is an interactive, easy-to-use DOS application for performing the following epidemiological analysis tasks:

• Estimation/testing
• Sample size/power
• Probability distributions
• Mathematics/combinatorics

Directions

To install SABER, click on "Download SABER" and save the self-extracting zip file to your hard drive. When you run SABERZip.exe, it will create the necessary directories (c:\saber\user) on your c: drive. To run it, run c:\saber\saber.exe, using Explorer (Windows 95, 98, NT), or File Manager (Windows 3.1) or using the Run option from the Start button. For easier execution, you can drag this file to your desktop to create an icon.
