The Flag Paintings of Childe Hassam
Overview: 25 paintings were selected from the series created by Childe Hassam showing the flag-decorated streets of New York City during World War I, between 1916 and 1919. They were assembled by Ilene Susan Fort of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Deborah Chotner was exhibition coordinator at the National Gallery.
Gaillard Ravenel and Mark Leithauser designed the exhibition and Gordon Anson designed the lighting for the National Gallery. This was the second in the series of American impressionist exhibitions supported by Bell Atlantic.
