The Exome Project

Program Description

The goal of the Exome Project is to develop and validate a cost-effective, high-throughput sequencing application for sequencing all of the protein coding regions of the human genome. The Exome project is funded by National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) and managed by both NHLBI and National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI). The purpose of developing this resequencing application is to enable the sequencing of tens of thousands of individual samples from NHLBI's well-phenotyped populations in a cost-effective manner.

The Program Officers for the Exome Project are Weiniu Gan, Ph.D. and Deborah Applebaum-Bowden, Ph.D. from the NHLBI and Lu Wang, Ph.D. from NHGRI.
