Based on feedback from you, your PMFs, your PMF Agency Coordinators, and academic stakeholders, I am taking steps to reinvigorate the PMF Program. As we build a 21st century workforce, the PMF Program will play a vital role in attracting men and women from a variety of academic disciplines and career paths who have a clear interest in, and commitment to, excellence in the leadership and management of public policies and programs.
Because PMFs know the Program and their peers, and have a vested interest in its continued success, I am creating Power Packs to bring together several small teams of PMFs to work on projects as part of the reinvigoration effort. The Power Packs will work primarily at OPM headquarters in Washington, DC. Most projects will last 4 months; others may require more or less time, depending on its scope.
Power Pack announcements will be posted to the PMF website and Agency Coordinators will be notified with their regular monthly updates. The initial Power Packs will focus on the following projects: 1) increasing outreach to deepen and broaden the PMF applicant pool; 2) revamping future orientation sessions; 3) developing a job-matching process to connect Finalists to jobs; 4) reenergizing the PMF Alumni Program; and 5) planning and executing the assessment center interview that we are restoring for the Class of 2011.
As the announcements are sent for the upcoming Power Packs, I strongly urge and encourage you to consider having Fellows from your agencies participate. This is a great way to influence the PMF program and to help make government service cool again!
Should you have questions, please contact Ms. Deidre Sexton at the PMF Program Office at 202-606-1040 or PMF@opm.gov. Thank you for your continued support of the Presidential Management Fellows Program.
