We’re nearing our goal for Feds Feed Families 2010, but we’re not there yet.
As you know, in 2009 the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and the Chief Human Capital Officer (CHCO) Council formed a partnership through the “Feds Feed Families” food drive campaign which successfully collected over 1 million pounds of food from Federal employees across the country for families in need.
This year, with the need as urgent as ever, you have answered the call once again, and have collected nearly 700,000 pounds of food for the 2010 campaign. We are almost there!
Rising to the challenge to collect 1.2 million pounds of food this year has not been easy. Your agencies have gone to great lengths to meet their individual goals and help us meet the Governmentwide goal. We’ve seen tremendous acts of charity and goodwill across the Federal government, which is why we are confident that we will reach our goal – if you continue to push. To ensure that all participating agencies are able to contribute to the fullest extent, we are extending the food drive for two additional weeks, until September 14, 2010.
Please use this time to make a final push for food and non-perishable items in every participating city. Families nationwide are in need. Together, we can be proud that we spent our summer feeding hungry children. Thank you for your partnership and commitment to this Governmentwide initiative.
