Agency Asset Management System

Users that log in to GSAXcess® can take advantage of its Agency Asset Management System (AAMS) to simplify and improve internal screening of excess personal property for the federal activity. GSA has achieved this by taking the following steps:

  • Eliminating duplicate data entry;
  • Reducing paperwork;
  • Increasing federal agency reutilization; and
  • Eliminating the need for agency personal property systems development.

AAMS, a module of GSA's screening system, provides internal agency screening and redistribution of personal property to authorized agency users. The system was first developed in coordination with the Department of Energy (DOE). GSA has also worked with the Departments of Commerce (DOC), Veterans Affairs (VA), Agriculture (USDA) and the GSA Policy staff to customize AAMS modules for their needs.

DOC, VA and USDA use AAMS to report, select, and transfer excess personal property exclusively within their agencies. At the end of their internal screening cycles, any property still available is either returned to the agency or is passed to GSAXcess®. Using GSAXcess®, other federal and state agencies can locate available excess or surplus property and compete for it. For further information, contact Jennifer Jessup at DOC, James Teal at VA, Michael Johnson at USDA, Beth Leykamm at DOE or Katherine Rhodes at GSA Policy.

After logging into GSAXcess®, the system identifies the individual logging in as an AAMS user by the Agency/Bureau Code associated with the account and automatically routes the individual into the AAMS module.
