Proclamations

Encourage your local government officials to sign an official proclamation that designates September as National Recovery Month (Recovery Month). When local officials publicly sign such a statement, public attention is drawn to your Recovery Month events and activities, and the community as a whole recognizes that local governments are committed to improving citizens' access to treatment programs for alcohol and drug use disorders. Proclamations can be issued by governors, state legislatures, municipalities, counties, cities, or towns.

We would like to acknowledge your efforts and post your proclamation on our website.

Please mail the original signed or a copy of the signed proclamation to:

Office of the Director, Consumer Affairs,
Center for Substance Abuse Treatment, SAMHSA,
Room 2-1062,
1 Choke Cherry Road,
Rockville, MD 20857

You can also email a copy of the signed proclamation in a high resolution jpeg file to recoverymonth@samhsa.hhs.gov. We will scan and post it for you. Please note that you will not receive the proclamation back. Thank you for your support.
