Congressional Relations

The staff schedules numerous Member meetings for the Administrator, Deputy Administrator, Heads of Services/Staff offices, as well as many other Member and committee staff briefings, both with GSA’s oversight committees as well as with other Members.

Intergovernmental activities include promoting the cooperative participation of State and local officials on GSA issues and facilitating communications between Agency officials and State and/or local officials.

Congressional and intergovernmental Affairs serves as a first point of contact for Members’ offices and deals with a number of direct congressional inquiries on routine GSA matters every day. An emphasis is placed on quick turn around, and we will return inquiries in a timely manner.

GSA is mandated to provide office space to Members of Congress in their home states whether the Senate State or House District offices are in Federal or commercial space. GSA provides support to Members throughout their term(s) of office.

The support provided is administrative in nature and includes the following responsibilities; establishing and closing offices, coordinating space alterations, security and alarm systems, procuring furniture and furnishings, relocating property, performing physical inventories, and repairing and disposing of furniture and equipment.

Legislative Services

Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs is responsible for GSA’s compliance with the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Circular A-19, governing coordination of Administration policy with OMB. Our staff members serve as the central contact point with OMB on legislative and related items including executive orders, enrolled bills and GSA’s legislative items.
