The National Institutes of Health Introduces the 2006 NIH Director's Pioneer Award Program
The award, a key component of the NIH Roadmap for Medical Research, supports exceptionally creative scientists who take innovative approaches to major challenges in biomedical research. The program is open to scientists at all career levels.

Trans-NIH Mouse Initiatives: KO Mice Procured
19 NIH Institutes, Centers, and Offices (ICO) contributed over $10 million to the procurement, and by working together, the ICOs acquired far more mouse lines than they could have separately. Those and other resources are available on the Trans-NIH Mouse Initiabives Web site

PACT: Production Assistance for Cellular Therapies
PACT is an NHLBI-funded contract manufacturing program aimed at helping investigators develop novel somatic cell therapies. The program will aid investigators by providing production assistance in areas ranging from translational development to the scale-up of a product that is intended for use in human clinical trials.

New Limited Access Dataset now available: The Magnesium in Coronaries Study (MAGIC)
This study was designed to determine whether early intravenous magnesium treatment of patients with suspected acute myocardial infarction reduces mortality.

New Limited Access Dataset now available: The Prospective Investigation of Pulmonary Embolism Diagnosis Study (PIOPED)
This study proposed to determine the sensitivities and specificities of ventilation/perfusion (V/Q) lung scans for acute pulmonary embolism (PE).
