About the Family and Youth Services Bureau

What We Do

The mission of the Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB) is to promote safety, stability and well-being for people who have experienced or been exposed to violence, neglect or trauma. FYSB achieves this by supporting programs that provide shelter, community services and prevention education for youth, adults and families. FYSB is one of two bureaus within the Administration for Children, Youth and Families (ACYF).

Our Driving Principle: Positive Youth Development (PYD)

FYSB encourages communities to support young people through Positive Youth Development (PYD). This concept is founded on evidence that certain positive influences at home, at school and in the community prevent young people from making poor choices and help them to succeed.

Interoperability Collaborations

The Family and Youth Services Bureau works closely and collaboratively with a number of agencies both within the Department of Health and Human Services and across the government.
