NHLBI Research Training Programs for Postdoctoral Individuals

The goal of all programs is to support research training for scientists already engaged in biomedical, clinical or behavioral research. The programs provide practical research experience for physicians and Ph.D.-level investigators at the beginning stages of their research careers. Several programs extend support to experienced scientists who wish to change their research career path.

Some awards are made to institutions to enable them to support an individual's research training in specific areas and fields of shortages. Awards are also available for faculty development in fields of research shortage.

For all postdoctoral individuals, the NHLBI offers four research training programs:
