Take It Outside! Explore Your Public Lands "Teaching children about the natural world should be treated as one of the most important events in their lives." The Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM’s) "Take It Outside" program promotes and supports outdoor activities and experiences of children on the public lands. The program strives to improve the health of our nation's children, families, and communities, while at the same time developing the next generation of public land stewards.

BLM’s Take it Outside! programs annually provide opportunities to over 100,000 children and families to get outside, explore, and learn about public lands. 

Many of the Take It Outside projects under way throughout the BLM this year also meet the dual goals of Let's Move Outside :

• getting kids outside in nature
• getting kids outside and physically active

On June 1, First Lady Michelle Obama launched Let’s Move Outside, a component of Let’s Move!, her nationwide campaign to end childhood obesity within a generation. Led by the Departments of the Interior (DOI) and Agriculture (USDA), Let’s Move Outside is a coordinated effort to get kids and families moving in America’s great outdoors.  The Bureau of Land Mangement's Take It Outside program is excited to be a part of this effort that will give parents the tools they need to get their kids moving outdoors, help families become healthier, and develop more active lifestyles.  For More Information: Let's Move Outside Let's Move White House Task Force on Childhood Obesity Report to the President
