Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Administrator Pamela S. Hyde and Brigadier General John D. Owen, Assistant to the Command Surgeon, Air Mobility Command for the Missouri Air National Guard will join with others in hosting a public roundtable discussion on the "Citizen Solider Assistance Program" -- an innovative effort to enhance behavioral health services to members of the Missouri National Guard and their families. This program will be built on a number of promising strategies learned through several SAMHSA-sponsored grants. The Citizen Soldier Assistance Program is being developed by Burrell Behavioral Health and other administrative agencies for the Missouri Department of Mental Health in conjunction with the Missouri National Guard.

 

This roundtable is part of SAMHSA’s Strategic Initiative on Military Families, an agency wide effort to better anticipate and meet the full range of behavioral health issues affecting service members, veterans and their families. This strategic priority implements many of the objectives set forth recently in the President’s Military Family Report, "Strengthening Our Military Families: Meeting America’s Commitment."
