In host countries USAID works with a wide range of in-country partners, including individuals, businesses, non-governmental and governmental organizations (both not-for-profit and for-profit), cooperatives, associations, academic and vocational institutions (both public and private).

We provide support for the catalytic work that in-country partners do through Assistance mechanisms such as Cooperative Agreements, Grants and sub-awards, and through Acquisition of services via contracts or purchase orders.  Information regarding partnerships is provided via local announcements and solicitations announced on www.fedbizopps.gov and www.grants.gov.

Some of our existing in-country partneships include:

  • Collaboration with in-country partner universities to improve agriculture and food production via the university’s extension services.
  • Introduction of alternative forms of energy (solar, wind, other) to marginalized and rural communities through “win-win” partnerships with the private sector.
  • Provision of clean drinking water to residents of urban slums via innovative community managed fee-for-service systems whereby revenues are generated and invested back into the systems for maintenance and improvements.
  • Promotion of good governance and well-functioning central government service delivery across all sectors

Partnerships are established by both USAID’s Missions throughout the developing world and by USAID in Washington.
