About Us

The Office of Translational Alliances and Coordination (OTAC) advances the mission of the NHLBI and the NIH by providing leadership and coordination to accelerate the translation of innovations to commercialized products that improve patient care and enhance public health.

OTAC's mission is to accelerate the translation of basic discoveries and innovations into new diagnostics, devices, and therapeutics. The Office facilitates identification of emerging areas of translational opportunities and provides functional integration by developing interdependent teams that leverage resources and intellect across the NHLBI, and with other ICs, agencies, and organizations. The OTAC leverages existing efforts, enhances communication and coordination between existing programs, develops and coordinates strategic initiatives and FOAs, and identifies and capitalizes on synergies to meet and enhance program goals.
