Tony Dickherber, Ph.D.

Tony Dickherber directs the NCI Innovative Molecular Analysis Technologies program. In addition to his duties running the IMAT program, Tony also assists with research planning for the Cancer Human Biobank (caHUB) program at the NCI's Office of Biorepositories and Biospecimen Research and development of strategic partnerships. Before initially joining the National Cancer Institute as an AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellow, Tony's research focused on innovative biosensor platforms for early cancer detection and developing arrayable ion-trapping structures for quantum-bit computing at the Nanotechnology Research Center in Atlanta, GA. Prior to that, he spent four years as a research engineer at the Georgia Tech Research Institute working on military-related telecommunications projects. He received both his master's degree in electrical engineering and his Ph.D. in bioengineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, where his dissertation research focused on the development of label-free cancer protein microarray biosensors based on microelectronic acoustic device technology.
