The President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, launched in 2006, annually highlights the role colleges and universities play in solving community problems and placing more students on a lifelong path of civic engagement by recognizing institutions that achieve meaningful, measureable outcomes in the communities they serve.

The Honor Roll's Presidential Award is the highest federal recognition an institution can receive for its commitment to community service.

Important Dates for the 2013 Honor Roll

  • Thursday, November 29, 2012: Applications due by 5:00 PM EST
  • Thursday, February 7, 2013: Applicant Notification
  • March 2-5, 2013: Announcement Ceremony in Washington, DC at the
    American Council on Education Annual Meeting

Applications for the 2013 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll are now available and are due by 5PM EST on November 29, 2012. The Honor Roll is an annual program. Honor Roll Recognition

Presidential Awards are granted to three (3) institutions in each of two categories.

Join the conversation about service and volunteering in higher education #HonorRoll FacebookTwitterYouTube Honor Roll with Distinction is a form of recognition that will be given to applicants that display strong levels of institutional commitment, provide a compelling case for partnerships that produce a measurable impact in the community, and have a Federal Work-Study community service percentage of 15 percent or above.

Honor Roll is granted to institutions whose service described is deemed substantial, relevant and meaningful, and achieves measurable impacts in the community.

Eligibility

All accredited degree-granting colleges and universities in the United States are eligible to apply. Colleges and universities participating in the Federal Work-Study (FWS) program must meet the statutory 7 percent minimum FWS community service requirement. Previous applicants must apply each year.

By being admitted to the President’s Honor Roll, your institution will be recognized by the President of the United States as a leader and role model in community service for the higher education sector. It will help to:
