 What is a podcast?

A podcast is a series of audio files published on the web and usually downloaded onto computers or portable listening devices such as iPods or other players. Podcast files are usually MP3 types which can be played on most players. Read more about podcasting from webcontent.gov

You will need media player or music player software to play the podcasts, if your computer doesn't already include one. EPA provides podcasts and audio files (and transcripts) of useful or engaging information as a way to help the public understand and share information. Some of the podcasts listed on this page are part of an ongoing series; others were issued on a one-time basis but still contain valuable information.

Natural disasters - a variety of public service announcements related to environmental safety during and after storms, floods, or other events.

eCycling electronics - Listen to discussions recycling used computers, cell phones, and other electronics.

Energy Star - Each podcast is a collection of conversations about energy efficiency. EPA staff talk with a variety of business analysts, technology experts, policymakers, and media. These recordings cover market trends, consumer preferences, energy reduction solutions, new products and efficiency standards, and even some retail training information.

Green Chemistry Challenge - learn about winners who research and develop chemical methods and processes that use less-hazardous substances, reduce waste, and save energy.

Green Power Partnership - Listen to a variety of topics, including the Green Power Partnership, green power technologies and products, and information on procuring green power.

Greentips - Listen to EPA experts discuss ways you can reduce your environmental footprint.

Local Climate and Energy Program - Each podcast for the Local Climate and Energy Program explores topics related to local government climate change and clean energy efforts. Listen to highlights of EPA resources available to local governments and examples of successful climate and energy programs and policies implemented locally.

Mid-Atlantic - conversations with environmental experts, for 4-5 minutes twice a month, on all aspects of environmental protection and green living.

Multimedia collection - a variety of topics in podcast or video format.
