ILLiad upgrade at Library of Congress, apologies for service interruptions
OCLC has announced the end of support for versions of ILLiad earlier than 8.1, on July 15, 2012. Hence, the Library of Congress must upgrade its self-hosted v.7.4 ILLiad server by that date, or be unable to communicate with OCLC (i.e., receiving new ILL requests, or updating requests already in the database). The Library of Congress IT infrastructure is rather complex, testing of various components involved in the upgrade, and subsequent security reviews, will be necessary before DLC can deploy this upgrade in production. We are proceeding on a crash basis to meet OCLC's deadline, but Interlibrary Loan requesters should be forewarned that there may be some period of outage both during our testing (now) and possibly after July 15. We will adjust our supplier status as necessary.
In the meantime, and after July 15, if it becomes necessary, we anticipate that requests can continue to be processed using ILLiad's Lending Web Pages and email. Please see instructions for setting up an ILLiad Lending Web account at: First Time Registration for
ILL .
Thank you for your patience during this transition period.
IFLA Libraries: New Ways of Submitting Requests
to LC
Members of IFLA may now submit ILL requests to the Library of Congress via
the Web, or email. IFLA Libraries may go to the First Time Registration for ILL page to register as an LC borrower, or send an email to: IFLALoan@loc.gov.
Please use only this email address when
sending email Interlibrary Loan requests to the Library of Congress. Be sure to
include all pertinent address and bibliographic information, so we may properly
identify both the borrowing library and work requested. If further information
is required, an email reply will be sent asking for the missing information.
IFLA vouchers may be mailed under separate cover, see: To
Libraries Outside the U.S. for the mailing address and correct amounts.
