Office of the Chief Financial Officer
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) has responsibility for budget and financial management in FSIS. The CFO leads development of policies and financial reporting systems to support FSIS' public health mission and oversees the Agency's strategic planning and performance management functions.
FY 2013 Budget FSIS Budget
FSIS spends approximately 80% of its $1 billion annual budget on personnel salary and benefits. In FY 2012, most of FSIS' 9,573 Full-Time Equivalents (FTEs) were devoted to inspection and other frontline duties, such as investigations and laboratory testing. FSIS regulates 6,290 meat, poultry and egg product establishments across the country. Explanatory notes provide more information on the recent FSIS budget submissions.

FSIS 2011-2016 Strategic Plan and USDA Performance and Accountability Reports (PAR)

The FSIS Strategic Plan is the foundation document for both the long-range and day-to-day operations of the Agency. The Plan describes how FSIS will continually earn the public's trust through proper policies and actions focused on decreasing the risk of and preventing foodborne illnesses.

USDA's annual Performance and Accountability Report (PAR) includes the Annual Financial Statements and other accompanying performance information. FSIS performance information for fiscal years 2009-2011 is available:
