Cooperative Agreements
FSIS continuously seeks new ideas and strategies to reduce the incidence of foodborne illnesses associated with meat, poultry, and egg products. We strengthen our public health capabilities and support for food safety innovation through the funding of cooperative agreements.

FSIS and the Agricultural Research Service (ARS) strengthened their data sharing relationship through a cooperative agreement (PDF Only) finalized August 27, 2007.
Project Areas & Work Products
  1. Food animal production, transportation, and marketing.
  2. Small and very small federally inspected meat, poultry, or egg product establishments.
  3. Retail stores, food service establishments, and other inspection-exempt small businesses processing or handling meat, poultry, and egg products.
  4. New technologies that will permit small and very small meat, poultry, and egg product establishments to produce safer products.
  5. Enhancement of laboratory testing capability of the Food Emergency Response Network for microbial threat agents.
