GSA Celebrates Groundbreaking of New IRS Campus Near Boston

GSA’s New England Region together with the IRS recently hosted a groundbreaking to celebrate the expansion of the IRS campus in Andover, Massachusetts.

Built in the 1960s, the building is being modified with funds from the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act. The extensive alterations will allow the agency to expand numerous departments and support the agency's increased use of automated technology. Green features include the installation of geothermal heating and cooling systems, a new 500 KW photovoltaic array roof, state-of-the-art electrical equipment, and energy efficient fixtures. Slated for completion in 2012, the renovated facility will enable IRS to improve productivity and customer service.
